Trade In Motion is hiring Junior to Intermediate Heavy Equipment Mechanics for our regional shop operations across Canada and the USA. Formed as part of our push to fill 20 positions across various experience levels, this role is perfect for technicians with solid foundational mechanical skills who want to step up, learn from senior mechanics, and master specialized drilling and heavy support equipment.
This position is open to all North American applicants, with a strong focus on welcoming Canadian, US, and Mexican citizens who are eligible for the TN Visa pathway.
Key Responsibilities & Core Objectives
Component Repair & Troubleshooting (30% of Time): Assist in diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults using testing tools and standard service manuals
. Replace or adjust defective parts to restore optimal machinery functions . Rig Assembly & Service Support (40% of Time): Work alongside senior technicians to clean, disassemble, and refurbish major rig sub-systems during complete overhauls
. Assist with final inspections, fluid flushes, and operational tuning on Schramm, DR-series drills, and auxiliary equipment before they deploy to job sites . Preventative Maintenance Fleet Care (10% of Time): Execute routine, scheduled preventative maintenance on support machinery—including service trucks, compressors, boosters, telehandlers, and dozers—to minimize field downtime
. Inspect lines, change filters, check seals, and assist with basic engine or transmission repairs . Basic Fabrication & Machining (15% of Time): Read technical drawings to prepare materials and tools
. Practice basic machining, component assembly, structural welding, and torch cutting to build or patch rig components according to strict design guidelines . Shop Versatility & Safety (5% of Time): Actively participate in continuous safety improvement efforts, maintain an organized workspace, coordinate daily workflows with shop peers, and take direction to develop advanced trade skills

Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: 1 to 4 years of experience working on heavy vehicles, agricultural equipment, commercial trucks, or heavy construction machinery.
Training Focus: Enrolled in or completed a program in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, or possesses equivalent hands-on trade experience
. Technical Foundation: Basic understanding of hydraulic systems, 12V/24V electrical systems, and safe welding/torch operations
. Attributes: Eager to learn complex systems, physically capable of performing field or shop labor
, and highly collaborative in a busy team environment . Eligibility: Open to North American applicants. Must hold valid citizenship in Canada or the US, or be a Mexican citizen fully eligible for a TN Visa.
